Get Active with #ActiveNationDay

Image
Have you heard? Today is ACTIVE NATION DAY!   So, get off the couch and get outside and MOVE! Lorna Jane and FitApproach want to spread the word that today (and everyday) is a perfect day to get moving.  Lorna Jane started this movemen t two years ago by hosting events all over the world. Now, this year, Lorna Jane has made it their goal to make the movement GLOBAL!  If you haven't gotten up and been active yet...there is still time. There's actually always time! No excuses. Bring the kids! Go for a walk, head to the playground and let them run around while you run laps around the playground, push you little one(s) in a jogger, or let them ride their bike or ride a scooter beside you while you run! If you are stuck on ideas.... download the Lorna Jane app and check out the movement ideas there and listen to Lorna's motivating words in her fantastic accent. I've only used the running selection, but I do like that there are so many more opti

Back to School means I need quick, healthy breakfasts that keep feeling satisfied.  As a SweatPink Ambassador, I had the opportunity to review Hemp Pro 70 Chocolate and Vanilla flavored protein powder.   I've never tried hemp protein powder before.  I had been warned that it had a "different" taste.   That was definitely NOT the case with Hemp Pro 70!   perfect for my crazy mornings...easy to make, tastes great and keeps me satisfied  A few facts:  - water soluble (easy to mix...just add to water or almond milk, shake and drink!) - great taste!  - plant based  - nothing artificial or fake - 14 g of protein - 2.7 g omega 3 and 6  - only 4 ingredients: hemp protein concentrate, organic coconut sugar, organic fair trade cocoa powder and natural plan extracts  Manitoba Harvest is hosting a contest right now (ends 9/30 --- so HURRY!!!).  Share the HEMP love and win!  Snap a picture and tag #pro70 #sweatpink on Instagram or tw

Move It Monday

Happy Monday!  Let's get this workweek started off right with Move It Monday!!! What's your plan to be active today and this week?  I have found that when I have a plan, my workouts happen.    this past week I challenged myself and signed up for a 6 week Speed Session class! Here is a snapshot for this upcoming week:  Monday:  30-45 min recovery run Tuesday:  off or if I can squeeze in some biking Wednesday:  run as much as I can possibly squeeze in before I need to get back to school for parent teacher conferences from 4-7pm.  Thursday:  30-45 min run Friday:  hills with Aimee  Saturday:  5-6 miles Sunday:  14 miles  I LOVE running with my kids...or even having them bike while I run.  Fit Kids are happy and healthy kids too! Now - keep in mind, if something comes up and I need to swap around some days, it's not the end of the world.  I try to keep an open mind about this so I don't stress out, as much.  But I will admit, I do

3 Things Thursday

Fall is fast approaching and the days and nights are getting cooler.  We've gone from " oh my word, it's hot for September! " to " where the heck is the down comforter " and " maybe we need two comforters tonight! "  I'm sure we'll get to the " I think we need to make a fire tonight " stage soon too.  Brrr!   While the sudden coolness is a shock, I still do enjoy fall very much so.    Number 1 on my list..... fall photo session with 179 Photo.  In a couple of weeks, we will have our photo session with Jill & Wade and the kids.  We have the best photographer and I'm already excited to see how our photos turn out!   Number 2 fall running.   I love fall running.  I was really looking forward to running marathon #4 this fall as well.  However, it was not in the cards for me.  Since I did some damage to my glute nearly 4 weeks ago in the trail race, I haven't done a ton of running.  I was beginnin

Friday Favorites

Helllooo FRIDAY!   First full week of school and I AM WIPED!   Just in case you missed it, I have a new teaching assignment this year, which I am quite pumped about.  I made the switch from teaching Special Education for 14 years to mainstream High School Math.  I've got to say I absolutely LOVE it!   It is taking a little bit of time for me to adjust to my new role, so I've been a bit absent in the social media world.   Since it's Friday, one of my favorite days of the week, I'm going to share some of favorites!   Marika Slimming Capris Every woman needs a basic black pair of capris in her wardrobe.  If you've been looking for THAT pair... Marika has the best one for you!  I was sent a pair of Marika Slimming Capris to review and they have quickly moved up to top of my rotation.  You know how it is - we women have these drawers/closets full of clothing, but somehow we tend to wear the same things over and over again.  Yeah, these capris have made

Tasty Thursday with AMRAP #Raisethebar

I've taken a bit of a hiatus while I adjust to my new position and adjusting to having both kids in school.  But I haven't taken a hiatus from delicious, healthy foods!  I was quite fortunate to be able to sample a new bar - called the AMRAP BAR .   The AMRAP Bar is a 100% paleo, non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, preservative free and artificial free.  It also packs a powerful punch with it's high protein content as well and is full of flavor!  It came in Cashew and Vanilla , Almond and Honey , and Fig and Cacao .    The flavors were amazing!  I loved that it was packed with flavor and is clean fuel for your body - developed by athletes, moms, experts, and health nuts.  Each bar had 12 to 15 grams of protein and fell in the 270-320 calorie range.   To top it off...the ingredients are real.  You just have to love a company that develops a product with ingredients you can actually read!  For example, in the Fig and Cacao Bar - the ingredient list is: e
