February In Review

Image
I love many things about February.   February break.  T here are only 28 days.   Chances are we'll have a snow day sometime during February (this year we had 1.5 snow days).   The last day of the month is my birthday.   Speaking of birthday - I had a fantastic birthday!  After some appointments that were rescheduled due to weather - I spent time with the family.   Came home.   Went to the gym to get in some miles.   Ate my favorite dinner.  Pizza.  And then had more family over for Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cake.     All around it was perfect day.  Family.  Fun.  Run.  Pizza.  Peanut Butter and Chocolate.   And tomorrow is the last day to join me in my Birthday Bash Virtual Race ( enter here ) - aiming to raise money to fight cancer for the Tri for A Cure tri relay I'm doing this summer.    Since this is a February recap - I should...

Three Things Thursday

Image
I love 4 day work weeks...it seems like Thursday got here so freaking fast!  I LOVE it.   1.  Izzy turned 5 yesterday.  Yes.  My baby is 5 years old now.  Time is flying by so fast and soon we'll be taking her to kindergarten screening.  Exciting times!   She celebrated her birthday yesterday at daycare with gluten free cupcakes.  They were outstanding!!!    Then we celebrated again last night with dinner and Reece's Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream cake and invented my in-laws over for dinner as well.   And then we'll have her birthday party this weekend at Scrummy Afters , a super adorable candy store in downtown Hallowell.  They just recently renovated a room in the back to host parties!  They have a photo booth with props for the kids, face painting, a chocolate fountain and possibly a cotton candy machine (if it comes in tomorrow!).  AND we'll also do cupcake decorating. ...

Today is my birthday.  I know I've been celebrating this day like mad since last Friday, but I have continued the celebrating through today. I started off my day with a visit to Starbucks.   One of the awesome benefits of being a gold card member is that I get a free drink on my birthday.  The card actually came last week sometime, but I held strong and waited until today to use it.  I also received a free Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal as well.  Of course I saved that one as well and used both this morning.   A fabulous way to start off the day.   Mocha Frappucino Light.  Yum!  I sucked this down so fast but not as fast as the oatmeal I scarfed down!   Then one of the fine ladies I share my classroom with came in with a Chocolate Raspberry Torte from Wild Oats bakery.  Oh my.  Such a decadent dessert.  Of course I had to take pictures of this little piece of heaven and send it to my sister-in-law, Jill, and friend, Sta...

Happy Birthday To My Boy

Image
I'm still in shock.  How in the world can I have an 8 year old son?  I know, it IS possible for me to have a high schooler - thank goodness I don't.  Tucker is my 1st child and my only boy. I love this boy more than words can describe. We spent an awesome day at Peacock Beach with great friends.  Good thing because it hit 100 degrees (at least) in the Richmond/Gardiner area.  When we got home (after a quick trip to our CSA pick up), I fired up the grill and made pizzas on the grill (because it was too hot inside to turn on the oven) and prepped for a birthday sleepover.  They had a blast running through the sprinkler and eating ice cream cake.  What a day for that!!! This is NOT from today!  We had a party for him last weekend at the cottage!   As I write this post, the boys are in the living room unwinding (I hope) by watching a movie.  Izzy even insisted that I bring her mattress in there and put it on the floor so she could...

Happy Birthday To Me

Image
Tomorrow is my birthday.  I had dinner and drinks with the girls the other night and we then we will celebrate next weekend as a family - dinner and shopping.  Very low key.  The way I like it.   Ward has been asking me what I want for my birthday.  I’ve been thinking long and hard about it.  All I could think of was, a shopping spree at Horny Toad, Patagonia, and NorthFace. Then he showed me these babies.  They are Barefoot Pace Gloves by Merrell . I am in love.  I’ve been wanting a low profile shoe and I’ve really loved the Vibram Five fingers.    But I wasn’t sure of the feeling around my toes.  I just wish there was a Merrell shore store closer so I could try them on before I buy them. Should I just go for it?  Buy them online and hope they work?  Hopefully there is free returns if they don’t work out!  Or, should I look for some low profile racers first?  Hmmm….decisions.
