Happy Birthday To Me

Tomorrow is my birthday.  I had dinner and drinks with the girls the other night and we then we will celebrate next weekend as a family - dinner and shopping.  Very low key.  The way I like it.  

Ward has been asking me what I want for my birthday.  I’ve been thinking long and hard about it.  All I could think of was, a shopping spree at Horny Toad, Patagonia, and NorthFace. Then he showed me these babies. 

They are Barefoot Pace Gloves by Merrell. I am in love.  I’ve been wanting a low profile shoe and I’ve really loved the Vibram Five fingers.    But I wasn’t sure of the feeling around my toes.  I just wish there was a Merrell shore store closer so I could try them on before I buy them.

Should I just go for it?  Buy them online and hope they work?  Hopefully there is free returns if they don’t work out! 

Or, should I look for some low profile racers first?  Hmmm….decisions.

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression ge...
