My Race Recaps

As I walked by the toy room yesterday, I caught a glimpse of my running bulletin board.  It made me realize I don’t have a record written anywhere of my previous races and that this mess was my pathetic attempt at record keeping.  Ha! Honestly, in the beginning, I was so horrible I didn’t want to keep track of my races.  Then I started to see my times improve, so I started keeping my bibs.  I've even won some trophies and a plaque!


In time I hope to figure out my blog template and make this an actual link to a tab on the top of this page, but for today I’ll amuse you with a recap of my races.

    Jen, just go to cool runnings or maine track club or whichever site, click on the year, and you'll be able to find the exact date and time for every race you've ever run!

    I wish that were really the case! I've gone to CoolRunnings to start with my search of all the races I've done. It depends on the race directors. I know I did the OHD Race in 2008 and 2009. 2008 - is listed, but no times and OHD isn't even listed for 2009! Thanks!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Thanks to Tom and Kim at WrightSock , I had the chance to try some of their socks out.  Since I wear a size 9 and my size is borderline between a medium and a large, Tom thought it was best for me to try out   both the medium socks and the large socks. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! I’ve put a lot of thought into what I need to feel safe to run at night.  First and foremost, I needed some new gear to help me out, which lead me to RoadID for some help in this area. Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
