Holiday Cheer with Zevia

I am quite thankful the school district I work for has two full weeks of school off.  It's just enough time to regroup and come back ready to kick off 2015.  Christmas is nearly here and I am just about ready.  The last couple of weeks have been nuts and I really was feeling quite overwhelmed - forgetting appointments/work shifts at the gym.  I don't forget things like that.  So for me to forget commitments definitely tells me that I need to scale back.  And that's what I'll be doing these two weeks....scaling back and enjoying time with the kids.  No commitments.



Now that I am finally feeling somewhat sane again, let me share with you a sweet and simple drink I've enjoyed the past couple of weeks.  I'm not a fan of drinking my calories.  Never have been.  I'm also not a soda fan.  But since Zevia has entered my life (and why can't it enter my local grocery store? please!!!) - I've been so happy.  Zevia has zero calories, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners.  


Another thing I do not do a lot, is drink alcoholic beverages.  I do find that around holidays I enjoy them a lot more, but again, I don't enjoy drinking my calories.  I'd much rather save those calories for pizza and chips.  One drink I absolutely love is Captain Morgans and Cola.  My guilt-free Zevia twist on my fave is a cola flavored Zevia with a shot (or two) of Captain Morgans Spiced Rum.  The results? Smooth and perfect for this holiday season!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
