A 10k With Friends #JostRunning

Yesterday morning I was finally able to meet up with 2 of my 3 girls.  We haven't been able to run together work for months.   I've missed these times.   The miles flew by with great friends and catching up on the happenings going on in our lives.  We were sad that Jill wasn't able to make it.  Soon we will all be back together!



While this morning was a fantastic run with great friends, I also ran it as part of the Jost Running's Soaring 10k.

I am excited to receive my new medal from Jost Virtual Racing.  Isn't it awesome?





The thing about Jost Running is that you are donating for a great cause, earning a fabulous medal and "competing" with runners world-wide.  Check out the results here!

I even came in 1st place for the August Home Run 10k series!  Pretty awesome!



Next Month, Jost Running's theme is Oktoberfest and the medals double up as bottle openers.  That's a lot of fun!!  I've never received a medal that I could actually use.  The beneficiary is also the Midwest Food Bank.   You can even check out the Oktoberfest facebook event.



Do you run with friends?  How about virtual races?  
I am loving them for many reasons:  I can "race" whenever I want, with whomever I want, I have a range of days to "race", and I get a fun and awesome medal!

    I don't tend to do many virtual races, I am bad about remembering I signed up to do them. Those are some great medals for October though and great job coming in first for the August series!

    I want to do more virtual races! I created one last year as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and it was fun to get a group of us together. For some of us it was a milestone run!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
