Team A.L.I. Virtual Run

Suz & Allan over at Cows and Lasers and Everything In Between are currently hosting a virtual run for their niece, friend Jenn, and Suz's mom - all who came into this world as premature babies.  Head on over to their blog to read these amazing stories.  You will tear up for sure.



Their stories hit home for me as well.  A very dear friend's baby girl came also came into this world as a premature baby.  Reading these stories brought me back to the day I met A in the hospital.  She was so tiny and incredibly fragile.  My heart ached for her and her family.   She is now a very strong willed 3 year old girl who is indeed a fighter.  I am thankful for having her in our life.

Last night Pepper and I went out for another run and I decided that I was going to dedicate that one to Team A.L.I. and our A.  

5 miles w/ Pepper - done!


Here's hoping Team A.L.I. raised quite a bit of money for the March of Dimes.   Thank you for putting together this virtual race, Suz and Allan.  I hope your fundraising efforts were successful!

    Boy, those pictures bring back some not so distant memories! I wonder what strong willed girl you are referring to...hmmmm? This looks like an amazing virtual run. I will check it out later and see what I can do to help. This is an important cause!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
