Move Over Foamie

When I first heard about the Body Wrench, my initial thoughts were "I already have a foam roller, why would I need this?" But, curiousity got to me and I had to try it out.

The Body Wrench has quite the interesting name. I think of a wrench as a tool that tweaks the nuts and bolts and the Body Wrench does just that – it tweaks my body to make it feel good.

This little gem was waiting for me when I came back from Reach the Beach.Nothing pleased me more than anything than being able to roll out my achy, tired muscles with the Body Wrench. My body needed it.

The Body Wrench is quite easy to use.  First off, I definitely recommend watching the video it comes with. It isn’t very long and gives great suggestions on how to use it.   You should check out the website and the videos for more information on how to use it.

  • Uses your body weight to help with deep massage
  • Lay on the Body Wrench, placing the balls in the general area of your ache/pain
  • Adjust the placement until you locate your trigger point, trust me, you’ll know when you find it!
  • Lay there for about 30 seconds, then either “foot pump” or roll with the assistance of your elbows/hands 20 (or so) times.
  • Then roll the Body Wrench either up or down to your next area, and repeat the process.

It’s really that simple and it isn’t time consuming at all – really, less than 10 minutes per day.

I’ve even used it as a massager – just by holding it with my hand and rubbing Ward’s back/hamstrings after he ran (and BQ’ed again) the Sugarloaf Marathon a few weeks ago. His response was “hurts so good”.

Pros –
  • Small
  • Lightweight
  • Adjustable
  • Versatile - muscle rolling and core/strength work
  • Easy to use
  • the larger rollers apply to the larger surface area of muscles for a broader, less intense pressure
  • the smaller rollers apply to the smaller surfact and focuses on a deeper/more targeted pressure to your muscles
Con –
  • The first few times it was hard (for me anyway) to take the balls off.   I need to work on strength for sure.  Now that I’ve removed them a few times, it is easier.

How is it better than a foam roller? I have loved my foam roller for quite some time.  But really, when it comes down to it, the Body Wrench zeros in on those trigger points and provides me with almost immediate relief.  How can I go back?

I received this Body Wrech for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

    1. I too was in love with my foam roller but I've moved on to a new love. The Body Wrench does take it to the next level and you can use it for core exercises as well.

  7. Sounds interesting! I would give it a try. We don't have a foam roller but we do have "the stick" which works great.
