I Cannot Believe August is Over Already!

Image
I had HIGH hopes of August being a rockstar month. I really did. But my body had some other plans in store for me. I missed a few key days in the marathon training world. A week that called for 44 miles actually earned a whopping 11 miles. Do I regret taking those days off? Absolutely not! My body was screaming at me to stop and rest and I'm proud to say I listened (this time). I eased back into the running after that recharge week and I'm happy to report that I'm feeling incredible. I've had some pretty fantastic runs this week. Monday - 6 mile progression run at 4-dark o'thirty in the morning! Tuesday - 6 mile hilly run on the "other" side of town - by my new workplace Wednesday - 3.5 mile hilly-ish run on my road!  It's been a looooonnng time since I've run this route.  It felt incredible to be back on my road again.  I was still looking for those weirdos - but I had had my phone with me and was ready to call for help asap! ...

Higher and Higher

July flew by far too fast.  We've had some absolulely gorgeous weather, yet hot weather as well.  Last week was my highest mileage yet, with my longest training run to date.  I also ended July with my highest mileage for a month so far.  I remember when I was running maybe 30 miles a month and the success I felt with those miles.  It's taken a few years and quite a bit of determination - but I've gotten to this high point.  Will it keep getting higher?   I have 2 more full months of marathon training in my books which will definitely bring on 2 more high mileage months.  How high will it go?  Are you on DailyMile?  It's taken a bit of time for me to adjust, but I am loving it.   It's like facebook for the fitness minded.  Click on my DailyMile profile on the side to be my friend and I'll friend you back.  I cannot believe it's August 3rd already.  Wow!  This is going to be one...

Bringing the Run Indoors, May in Review & Goals

100% rain, downpours, 49F.  Yuck.  I know, I know.  What happened to the woman who toughed out the -12F runs this winter & who ran her only (to date) marathon in the pouring rain?  She's still here.   Trust me, she is.  (by the way the rain is still coming down by the bucketfull & I am dreading going down to the barn to feed the chickens) To be honest, I've been fighting a cold all week so when I saw the forecast I wasn't all too pleased.   I was still going to run outside but wasn't going to be thrilled about it. But then Jill, being the smarter one, suggested we run at the gym.  Hmm....well, that's a novel idea.  Why didn't I think of that?  I DO work there.  A few twitter convos, texts, and a phone call and we were all set.  Stacy was taking today off and Jess was going to run later - which meant that Jill, Carrie and I were heading to the gym for 11 miles. What?  11 miles on the treadmill?  I've never ...

Back at it

and winter is here.  Brrr.  When I got out for my run tonight, it was 15 degrees.  According to weather.com – the windchill brought it to 3F!  Brrr…  I have been spoiled for the past week since the temps were nowhere near 15 degrees AND I was able to run during daylight hours.  Now I’m back to my normal running conditions (when back to school) – cold, windy and dark.   and look at how cold it's going to get tonight.... The good news is that I wore my Wright Socks tonight and my toes did not feel like they were going to fall off.  Good sign.  I will be doing a full review/giveaway shortly!   I love that I do get to run before dinner.  Ward is a sweetie and takes care of dinner (even if I had to prepare it a couple of days ago) while I get out there and get my run done.  I am forever grateful I have a runner hubby who gets it (well, it is his fault I run anyway, so I guess he is obligated).    I am ...
