3 Things Thursday

Image
Juno paid us a visit this week.  We were perfectly safe, in our house.  I didn't go outside once all day long.  I had no intentions of venturing outside at all during the blizzard.  Thankfully, yesterday, which was also a snow day due to the extreme amount of clean up that had to take place - was gorgeous and blue skies!   the view from my woods! #1 (2)SNOWDAYS!  With this bonus snow day and TONS of snow, I declared yesterday a snowshoe running day!  Given the amount of snow (and with the forecast of TONS more on the way) - I see a lot of snowshoe running in my future.   ProCompression + Spandits = LOVE After my snowshoe adventures, I took the kids to the local sledding hot spot for a couple of hours.  It was the perfect snow day! #2 ProCompression! I am super excited to announce that I've been selected as one of the very lucky 2015 ProCompression Ambassadors!  I've been a ProCompression fan fo...

I LOVE my iPhone.  Actually, I have no idea how I've survived without it.  I go everywhere with it.  I take it running with me, it sits beside me at night while I sleep.  My only problem is that I may be obsessed with apps and have a few too many loaded on my phone.  I either need to delete some or look into getting a new phone with more memory.   With my upcoming Drop the Pounds Challenge - I'm going to use a few apps on my phone to keep me on track and hold me accountable.   My Fitness Pal.   Stacy introduced me to this app.  I downloaded it yesterday and I'm finding it to be incredibly easy to use and quite useful.  During the initial set up, you put in your current weight, goal weight, height, and activity level.  You also get to choose how much weight you'd like to lose per week.  The app then will calculate how may calories you need daily.  Throughout the day, you add in the foods you eat and your ex...

What's For Dinner?

Image
I'm joining in on the weekly challenge hosted by Mommy Run Fast and Fitness, Health, and Happiness  to post our dinner menu for the week.  The purpose behind it is to help in planning to put together healthy meals for our family and to help with being more budget friendly. Source Care to join in on the challenge?  Even if you are not a blogger, there are tons of benefits to prepping your meals on Sunday for the week. So, what are we eating this week? Breakfast for me will be either be my granola over greek yogurt or an egg omelet.  I tend to bounce between the two and both are incredibly easy. Lunch is going to be Greek Quinoa .  I made a huge batch today.  Yum!  It's incredibly filling and delicious.  For snacks each day I'll bring with me some apples, sliced veggies with hummus or strawberries and cottage cheese.  I have all ready to go, I just need to grab something on the way out the door. Dinner ...

Plank if you're a winner

Image
I'm absolutely thrilled with the participation Michelle and I got in our challenge!  I enjoyed the tweets, facebook messages, and blog comments.  All have been supportive and encouraging.  This is what I love and enjoy about the blog world.   I wish I had an endless supply of Sweat Pink shoelaces - but I don't.  I have three pairs left - so that means 3 winners!   Thank you all for submitting your results to me.  I took your names, put them on small pieces of paper, and had Tucker draw the winners.   (Izzy was sleeping already.... she is going to be bummed to know I did this without her.  Shhhh..don't tell her!)   And the winners are: Lori!  She started at a 34.8 second plank and ended with a 64.3 second plank, increased from 9 push ups to 24, and 18.4 second wall sit to 1:21:50!   Melissa from The Melissa Chronicles  - who started with a 1:51 plank and ended with a 5:31 and her wall sits...

A Friendly Competition - Who's In?

Image
It all started with Brad's post last week.  This guy did a 5 minute plank.  INCREDIBLE! You can do this challenge just about anywhere! Then this conversation started on twitter with my pal Michelle at Average Girls Doing Average Things .   And there you have it, we have a challenge!  And I love a challenge. The Challenge?  See how long you can plank, wall sit and how many wall sits you can do from TODAY until August 31st.  It's only 18 days.  Let's see what personal progress you can make! Michelle is going to kick my butt with the push ups, but I might be able to kick some butt with the planks.  I'm going to do my first round of wall sits today, so I don't know how that's going to go.  We'll see! plank #1 plank #2 You don't need any fancy equipment for this either.  I've been timing with my non-smart phone and non-Instagram.  I just time it, and if my camera is close by - I take a picture of it. ...
