Maine Maple Sunday

This morning the girls and I ran 7 miles on the Rail Trail.  While the thermometer read 30 degrees at the start of the run, the wind made it a brutal run.  We are in now in tapering mode as we prepare for this Saturday's half at Race the Runways.  Now that we're ready, let's hope the weather holds out.  Jill said she heard "something big" is coming our way on Saturday.  Here's hoping the weather pattern shifts!  



After the run, we all celebrated Maine Maple Sunday at Goranson's Farm today.  We started off with some yummy Maple Syrup Sundaes.  



Then we moved on to some more yumminess with maple candy, maple scones, apple cider.  


Then Tucker and Jackson protected the boxes of maple syrup!




I'm pretty sure Izzy didn't smile the entire time we were there.

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
