This photograph totally cracks me up, yet brings great sadness. Today would have been my parents' wedding anniversary. It makes me incredibly sad knowing their time together was cut short.
Every year we get to July 31st and I sit here and wonder where the hell did summer go? In less than 2 weeks preseason begins for fall sports. For my family that means double sessions of soccer for Tucker and 1 session for me with coaching cross country. This month I only raced 1 time. I had signed up for the Bradbury Series in April. It's been on my bucket list for a long time because after you complete all three races (And I will complete them. Even if I have to crawl to complete them) you get a Badass Hoodie. It's seriously all about the hoodie. Well, the people behind the race are freaking awesome too. And I did love racing on the trails for the snowshoe series, so of course I would love racing on the trails without snow. I didn't have anything to base my performance on which means automatic PR. Right? The first race was a 6 mile trail race at Bradbury State Park. It's called th...
Socks are very important to a runner. If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run. Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock. I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Thanks to Tom and Kim at WrightSock , I had the chance to try some of their socks out. Since I wear a size 9 and my size is borderline between a medium and a large, Tom thought it was best for me to try out both the medium socks and the large socks. I was sent the Running II Double Layer Socks and the Merino TRL Double Layer Socks to try out. I've never tried out double layer socks before. Sometimes I have worn two pairs of socks in the winter, but there has been a lot of rubbing which has led to some unpleasant blisters. Yuck. First up, Running II sock, retail price $12.00. I tried out the medium and large in the quarter sock. I wore the mediums for my 12 miler wit...
Running at night scares used to terrify me. But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear. Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March. I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore. So, outside it is! I’ve put a lot of thought into what I need to feel safe to run at night. First and foremost, I needed some new gear to help me out, which lead me to RoadID for some help in this area. This company is fantastic. It was founded by Michael and Edward Wimmer, a father/son owned company. Read the story here . Last fall, I had purchased my own ShoeID. I like the simplicity of it and that ease of putting it on any pair of shoes (with laces) as I head out the ...
