Runner's World Festival: The FOOD!

Image
I run so I can eat....I also eat so I can run.  Obviously this makes sense to me.   And the people at Runner's World must agree with me. To say they went all out with the food they served us would be an accurate statement.  The food was amazing!  Our Friday luncheon came straight out of the Meals on the Run cookbook. Whole Grain Panzanella was a favorite of mine!  The recipe (in the book) makes 4 servings in 25 minutes and 352 calories.   Bow-ties with Tomato, Basil, and Avocado Sauce. The recipe in the book makes 4 servings, 25 minutes, 485 calories.  Super easy, super delicious! Mediterranean Turkey Burgers.  The recipe in the book makes 4 servings, 30 minutes, 463 calories.  I loved the sun-dried tomato spread the most!   And then dessert was High-Protein Chocolate Pudding!  The recipe in the book makes 6 servings in 5 minutes and only 136 calories! My lunch disappeared qui...

Runner's World - The Tour

Image
After arriving at the Philadelphia Airport and meeting up with Dani, Heather and Nancy, we found our driver and headed off to Bethlehem, PA where Runner's World was setting us up in a hotel.    After checking in...we were given these rather amazing swag bags filled with goodies from the race sponsors! After a quick photo of the goodies, we headed off to a bar around the corner for a quick drink and meet and greet. Before you knew it, we were meeting in the lobby and loading up in the van heading toward Runner's World Headquarters for dinner, s'mores, a tour and our Altra fitting. Dinner was from the Runners World Cookbook Meals on the Run .  It was so yummy I wanted to go back for 2nds and 3rds but I restrained myself.  Trust me. That was hard! Shortly after that we were greeted by the Altra team and fitted with our new shoes!  I was given the Torins.   I am seriously in love with this shoe! Personal fittings f...

Mighty Nut Review + Giveaway

Image
I received Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter product to review via my association with Fit Approach. All opinions are, as always, my own! Good morning!  You all know I love food.   Peanut butter makes the world go round.  And it would make me go round if I ate it as much as I wanted.  I could seriously open a jar of peanut butter and go to town.   There are so many calories in peanut butter, it scares me!  BUT, hold on.  Peanut butter has so many other good things about it, you don't want to avoid it.  It's a great protein source...and when you're running all of the mileage, protein is needed.   This fall has been absolutely, beyond crazy in terms of work, running, kid schedules.  I barely have time to go to the grocery store...therefore meal planning is almost non existent.    Thank goodness for my smoothie breakfasts and lunches...which are super fast, easy and...

A Different Kind of Beast - Trail Running

Image
Trails.  Oh how I love them and hate them at the same time.  We have a  local race series in my area called the Bond Brook series.  I love it and hate it all at the same time.  It's a super technical course - lots of roots/rocks/holes/single track - you name it.  It's also where I injured myself last year when I was training for the MDI marathon and I pulled out of the full and ended up doing a {very slow} half as a relay with the girls...which was absolutely awesome.  But I digress. we were on a photo scavenger hunt this weekend as well.... and one of the requirements was to find the word Sanctuary. I might have been a little excited to find it!   I haven't run trails in such a long time.  I do love them.  I love the gorgeous scenery the woods have to offer.  So much more picturesque than the roads.   The terrain also brings on a great challenge that you cannot get from the roads.    the view f...

The Perfect Pre-Race Health: Top Running Bloggers Feedback On The Impact Of Food On Running

Image
as seen at Nordic Track We caught up with four running bloggers: Erika Howder, Jennifer Boudreau, Jason Saltmarsh and Beth Risdon to discuss good pre-race health. Having the perfect pre-race health means something a little bit different for each blogger. But, the overall idea is to take precautions to keep your body healthy and strong. That means eating right, getting enough sleep, staying hydrated and keeping a positive attitude. Drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy supply of carbs, proteins, “good” fats, whole grains and veggies are the key to energetic training and racing success. What does perfect pre-race health mean to you & what have you done to prepare for racing at peak health performance. Erika Howder: www.mcmmamaruns.com “Pre-race health for me means to listen to my body. I try to eat healthy whole foods the majority of the time and make sure I get enough sleep, in addition to following a training plan. Most importantly though, if my body says ...

How Did I Ever Survive?

Image
Last Thursday I made my first trek ever via airplane.  Yes. You read that correctly.  I am 38 years old and have never flown before.  That is... Until last Thursday. When I received the invite to be a RW Influencer and attend the 4th Runner's World Half and Festival, David kindly offered to fly me down.  Immediately I felt a lump in my throat. Oh crap! Since this year seems to be my year for conquering fears... Afraid of heights...  run Mt. Washington .  Check. Afraid to swim in the ocean...complete my first tri IN THE OCEAN .  Check. Afraid to fly? But seriously want to do all of the Runner's World races, meet Runner's World Editors, Staff and meet the other blogger influencers?  Okay, fine.  I'll fly. For the past couple of months, Ward heard me constantly ask questions about flying.  I googled all I could.  I read blog posts about it.  I annoyed the crap out of my awesome sister-in-law asking her a...
