The Spartan Race has a level for everyone.  

  • Spartan Sprint for beginners (me!)
  • Super Spartan for the intermediate
  • Spartan Beast for the advanced
  • Death Race for the extremist 





Spartan races are taking place all over the country.  Want to see if there is one near you?  



I've been eying up the Fenway Spartan Race on 11/16.  I'm kind of curious how the ballpark will be transformed into a Spartan course.    This also means that in addition to all of the marathon and ultra marathon training I'm doing over the next few months, I need to focus on strength training.

    That Fenway race would be awesome!!! We used to go to the playground in high school cross country to change things up at practice and those were my favorite days! I can only imagine this would be a little more badass! I hoping to do some strength training this summer anyway, so this would be a fun challenge!

    OMG! I have wanted to do one of these races for SO LONG, but never had the financial stability to pay for it. This would be an awesome opportunity and would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do this race!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
