WTF

I thought my bad luck in scheduling races in bad, snowy weather was behind me.  At least we got a break from snow from April to now.  

Remember last year's January Thaw 4.5 miler?  Maine got hit with a blizzard the day before.....




THEN, the Midwinter Classic was postponed, then cancelled due to blizzards last February.





The good news for the Mid Winter Classic is that my 
registration for last year can be applied to the 2012 Race!  I am so pumped about this.  

My March race actually went well...blue skies, great running weather.  



And we all remember the April Fool's Day Storm that came the day before the Race

So, imagine my surprise when I checked the weather for this weekend and I get this....



Now I need to revamp my costume - I was going to wear black spandex short, my racing flats, and a short sleeved shirt to run in.  Since the flakes will be flying from tonight around 7 pm until noonish tomorrow, I'm thinking not so much.  Time to change my plans!  

I was worried that the race might be cancelled because who in the world is thinking about snow impacting a race in October, then I saw this on the race website.

    Yeah, what's up with you and extreme weather conditions at races?!? Not snow, but the high humidity at the B2B and torrential downpour at the ME Marathon come to mind. At least it looks great for next Saturday! Unless you and Mother Nature have something hidden up your sleeves...

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Meet Sarah & Kelly   They are the women behind Spandits.   Spandits is a Maine company specializing in creating high quality, original athletic apparel.  Both of these women are amazing.  They are mothers, running coaches and marathoners.  They know running and what feels good. the label - on my capris, it is located just below the knee I came across their store on Ward's facebook page a few months ago and immediately fell in love.   I have gotten quite bored with my plain black and gray tights and capris.  Yes, they match just about any top, but there's nothing special about them at all.  Now, Spandits is all about special and original.  They stand out in a crowd and definitely get quite a bit of attention. ArmPocket Review + Giveaway

One of the must haves when running is my phone.  I run with it for safety and of course, to stop and take a picture.  You never know when you'll see something great on the side of the road or when I have to take a selfie.  Runner priorities. I had this old arm band for the original iTouch I bought Ward years ago, so I've been using that running armband for my iPhone.  Well, sometimes.  It's horrible.  It's hard to get my phone in and out of it.  It's not water resistant at all.  And there's no room to carry other things in it.  Very frustrating. Which lead to me simply carrying my phone.  With my hands.   And I was okay with that.  It was quite easy to take a picture because I already had the phone in my hand.  But there was one problem.  A pretty major one and I didn't even notice until my brother-in-law saw me running one day and asked me why I didn't use my arms when I run.  Hmmmm......   I thought I was using my arms.  I have many pictures
