Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

A little over a month ago, Jordan from Tommie Copper sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.

Have you heard about Tommie Copper?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.

So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.

Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing? Actually, Tommie’s compression line isn’t tight at all.   It’s actually quite comfortable and can be worn all day.  Until recently, compression gear was designed mostly for athletes to be worn for short periods of time to increase performance, enhance recovery, and alleviate pain.  Compression gear benefits a person by helping to stabilize muscle tissue and keeps the swelling of muscle fibers at a manageable level.  One of the benefits of wearing compression is that it increases the oxygen blood flow to the muscles.  Tommie Copper products have been designed for anyone to wear when looking for some relief from daily aches and pains.  One does not need to be a runner to reap the benefits from this incredible product.

My first impression:  The fabric feels like silk, lightweight – almost heavenly.

The shirt felt like a second skin, absolutely form fitting and quite flattering.  A run on a 50 degree fall day was perfect for this shirt.  My only issue was that it rode up a little bit around the belly area.  If I had a perfectly flat belly and didn’t have the jiggle thing going on, I bet the shirt wouldn’t have ridden up at all.  I guess I will have to work harder on that last little trouble spot. (darn c-sections!)  Anyway, the small issue was easily corrected by tucking my shirt into my shorts.  Easy peasy.    I also need to add that I’ve worn the shirt to school on several occasions.

Tommie’s website has this to say about it’s compression shirt (priced at $44.50):
This women's compression shirt provides all day support and stability.
  • Comfortable enough to be worn all day under your work clothes.
  • Adds compression support for the back and shoulders.
  • Machine washable

Next up, the calf sleeves.  Ohh la la.  I am sold on these.  I have worn them quite a bit.  Ward has been a bit jealous of me getting these.  But, the good part or bad part, depending on how you look at it, Ward’s calves are quite small so he can actually wear mine.  Let’s be honest, he works up quite a stink when he runs and isn’t very good at washing his clothes or getting them to the laundry.  Which means when  I go looking for my Tommie’s after he’s worn them, I’m betting they’ll be bunched up on the floor in a heap of stinky running clothes. Eeww.  I’m not saying I smell like roses when I run.  But he is way smellier.

Now, this is what Tommie had to say about their knee sleeves (priced at $24.50 each).
  • Relieve soreness and increase support with this calf sleeve.
  • Reduces muscle inflammation in the calf
  • Relieves calf pain and shin pain
  • Stimulates circulation
  • Comfortable compression that you can wear all day
  • Sold individually
  • Machine washable
I completely agree with the comfortable that you can wear all day.  I’ve done that.  I’ve even worn them to school under my pants.   I am always looking for some way to wear running clothes to school, here's my chance.  I love wearing these sleeves during runs, post runs, and to sleep in. They are that lightweight and comfortable.

Last, but not least, is the knee sleeve.  Now, honestly, I haven’t worn this a whole lot.  I thought it would look kind of silly (yep, I am concerned about the way I look, sometimes) to wear this and the calf sleeves and since I’m in love with the calf sleeves and didn’t want to give them up.  Then my knee started to ach one night.  I put the sleeve on before bed and slept in it.  It was that comfortable that I fell asleep no problem and woke up achiness free.   I must note that Ward's knee has been hurting a lot lately and he's been wearing it quite a bit and says he is in love.  Now that's big.

Tommie says this about their knee sleeve (priced at $24.50) each:
A knee sleeve that relieves joint pain all day. This sleeve combines comfortable compression and copper yarn for maximum relief.
  • Increases range of motion and mobility
  • Designed to stay in place, unlike most other knee sleeves
  • Adds strength and support to the knee
  • Helps relieve pain caused by arthritis and other debilitating joint ailments
  • Machine washable
Yes, Tommie Copper compression gear is machine washable BUT do not dry them with dryer sheets because the silicon in the sheets will break down the copper.  I have a dryer bar, and I’m assuming there must be some kind of silicon in those as well.  I haven’t looked it up and I probably should, but I just hang the Tommie gear to dry.  Since it’s such a lightweight material, it dries incredibly fast.  Even in my cold house.

The complete Tommie Copper line includes:
-       ankle compression sleeves
-       calf compression sleeves
-       knee sleeves
-       elbow sleeves
-       men/women compression shirts
-       full finger & fingerless compression gloves

I need to add that Tommie’s products are made in America.  Now isn’t that just awesome?

Would you like the chance to win some of your own Tommie Copper gear?  Jordan at Tommie Copper has graciously offered the winner their choice of a knee sleeve or a pair of calf sleeves.  How awesome is that?   Thank you, Jordan, for this incredible opportunity.  I love your product.
