I ran with my girls!

Image
It's been a few months.  We've all had crazy schedules.  BUT somehow we pulled it off this morning.   The four of us joined up at the gym.....and ran side by side on the treadmills.  Yep.   We took over the gym this morning.  And that's me.  Hogging the window treadmill.  We are blurry because we were running SOOO fast!   The great thing about treadmills is that we didn't have to run in 7F.  Which, is super warm compared to the -36F windchill yesterday.  But I still didn't want to run outside.  I'm just getting over a cold and didn't want to upset my asthma anymore.  Since it HAS been angry since this summer.   Carrie finishing up her run But we got it done.  8 miles on the treadmill.  Lots of laughing and great times.  This is why I love my girls.  I am so lucky to have them!   After my run, I picked up the kids at my inlaws house (across the street) ...

My *NEW* Green Smoothies

Image
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Did you happen to see my post yesterday?  Starting off my day with a green smoothie is at the top of my list.    But I have found that with Organic Matcha, my smoothies have GREEN elements, but don't always turn out GREEN .   Have you heard of Matcha before?  I had never heard of it prior to receiving it to review, but after trying it out for the past month, I can tell you it's a must have to add into my smoothies now.   Some of the benefits of Organic Matcha -  - all day energy - boosts metabolism - increases focus - improve skin health - 137 times more antioxidants than brewed green tea A 4 oz bag costs $25 on Amazon and in a month's time of making smoothies in the morning, I've only gone through 1/4 of the bag.  Now that's a bargain!   Two of my favorite Organic Match Smoothie recipes are.... Pumpkin Matcha and Berry Matcha.   ...

Fun Friday - Would You Rather Running Survey

Image
Heather from Where's the Beach posted this today and I thought it would be fun!  So, here are my answers to Would You Rather ... 1. Would you rather run in a thunderstorm or a snowstorm? Having run in both, and being that we're in the middle of yet another snowstorm with negative temps and my longing for warmer temperatures - I'm going to say thunderstorm.  I have run in both.  But I do enjoy running in the rain far more than snowstorms.  Especially those snowstorms when you get ice pellets in the eyes.   2. Would you rather breathe through your nose or breathe through your mouth? I had to stop and think about this one.  I do both.   3. Would you rather do 100 squats or 100 crunches?  Oh squats.  I'm on a leg kick right now.  But I will do the 100 crunches later today because that area needs a lot of help. 4. Would you rather have a baked good for dessert or an extra serving of your favorite entree? Oh for sure - an extra se...

Kick Start with #DesignerWhey

Image
Disclaimer:  This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Designer Whey.   That was a quick New Year celebration.  January 2nd, and I’m back to work/reality already. 5:30 am came too early.  But, thankfully, I had a quick, easy and filling breakfast ready for me.  A Designer Whey smoothie.   There is no better way to start my day/year than starting it with Designer Whey .   Over the course of the past few years, I have tried a number of protein powders and I keep coming back to Designer Whey .  For one, it’s affordable and readily available.  I can buy it online if I wanted.  Which is great because I am an online shopper.  But, when I run out, I don’t want to have to wait for the package to come.  I want it now.  Thankfully, Designer Whey is available at my local Hannaford and local Rite Aid.   Designer Whey makes a variety of great products that taste great and deliver a nice boost of...

Happy New Year!

Bring on 2014!!!   My goals for the year:  - make strength training part of my regular routine - practicing yoga  - eat cleaner (more coming on this!) - run and have fun - be active every single day - try new things! ... like my 1st tri I thought about setting a mileage goal...like run the year - 2014 miles for 2014.  But I'm not really sure I can/want to commit to that.  It is such a huge goal.  I'm impressed with the runners out there who are taking that on! Speaking of mileage - I should share my 2013 mileage! Miles run - 1352 Miles biked - 600 Not too bad considering I was injured for a pretty large part of it.   Lately, I've been enjoying trying something new.   Snowshoe running.  I don't have fancy running snowshoes.  But I did read up on running snowshoes and saw that they are usually about 21 inches in length.  My regular ones are 25 inches in length and Izzy's are 19 inches. ...

Making Changes....

I am obsessed with running shoes.  Hmmm...shocker.  I know.  It's really the first thing I notice about runners.  Their shoes.  Next....since they are attached to the shoes....legs.  Specifically the muscles.   Like RunEmz's legs.  Awesome.  If you don't follow this rockstar on instagram , you are missing out.   (I want her abs too by the way) I've also been quite inspired and impressed with Jody , who at the age of 56, is a freaking power house and her legs look amazing.  I've been slow to come around to this, but I'm getting there.  I want powerful looking legs.   I want more definition.  So..... I'm going to do something about it.  I AM doing something about it.   not really revealing of my progress.....next time I'll wear shorts! I started focusing more, consistently, about 2 weeks.  Doing lunges and squats, as I have been doing, on top of leg curls and leg presses at the gym. ...
