Every year we get to July 31st and I sit here and wonder where the hell did summer go? In less than 2 weeks preseason begins for fall sports. For my family that means double sessions of soccer for Tucker and 1 session for me with coaching cross country. This month I only raced 1 time. I had signed up for the Bradbury Series in April. It's been on my bucket list for a long time because after you complete all three races (And I will complete them. Even if I have to crawl to complete them) you get a Badass Hoodie. It's seriously all about the hoodie. Well, the people behind the race are freaking awesome too. And I did love racing on the trails for the snowshoe series, so of course I would love racing on the trails without snow. I didn't have anything to base my performance on which means automatic PR. Right? The first race was a 6 mile trail race at Bradbury State Park. It's called th...
A little over a month ago, Jordan from Tommie Copper sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample. I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail. It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately. Have you heard about Tommie Copper ? Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs? I’m tempted to try that out. Seriously. Why do people even wear compression ge...
Running at night scares used to terrify me. But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear. Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March. I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore. So, outside it is! I’ve put a lot of thought into what I need to feel safe to run at night. First and foremost, I needed some new gear to help me out, which lead me to RoadID for some help in this area. This company is fantastic. It was founded by Michael and Edward Wimmer, a father/son owned company. Read the story here . Last fall, I had purchased my own ShoeID. I like the simplicity of it and that ease of putting it on any pair of shoes (with laces) as I head out the ...
