Bike Riding Big Girl Style

I have BIG news!  Izzy is riding a big girl bike. 


Our friends gave us their daughter’s old princess bike with training wheels and Izzy wanted to ride it immediately.  The protective momma in me didn’t think she was ready for it.  I didn’t want her to fall and get any more boo boos (believe me, she has plenty!).  We have a rocky driveway that really isn’t the best for a beginner bike rider.  Then there’s the hill.  I don’t know why, but the kids are naturally drawn to it and insist on going down the hill.  Even on the first go of riding a bike. 








 
Nervous momma here had her hand ready to steady this big girl going down the hill.  I know someday she’ll take a digger going down the hill, but it wasn’t going to be today!

    I'm reading your sidebar (notice Lesson Plan Diva). In MA, we're starting SBI (Standards Based Instruction) in the Fall. There's always something changing in Edu...huh? We updated the Common Core/Standards for the state too! Here comes more prof dev! Pardon my rant and summer just began...LOL...LOL.

    "Take a digger", LOVE it!! No one here, or anywhere other than Maine really, knows what that means! I said it once in college when I was talking about someone who fell on the ice and my friends looked at me like I had five heads!

    Congratulations Izzy, yay for a big girl bike! She did great!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
