Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review + Giveaway

A few weeks back I received a bottle of Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil to review.  I had read quite a bit about using coconut oil for cooking but I had never taken the plunge.  In all honesty, the only time I had used coconut oil before was in making lotion with Jill in December.

As soon as my coconut oil came, I started using it as an olive oil or butter substitute.  It was that easy.   I used it in my favorite pinterest low mein recipe.

Then I used it in my Strawberry Rhubbarb Puff recipe.

I used it in a quick dinner of sauted kale and onions with tomatoes and goat cheese over couscous.

I even used it when I made Rhubbarb Scones

The results.  With the scones, the coconut oil added a little bit of crispiness.  A very welcome texture to the scones.    With the rest of the recipes/substitutions, I thought that using coconut oil was easier to use than oil because there wasn't the risk of dumping too much oil in (which I've been guilty of several times) as it's a solid.  The taste was light and I didn't taste coconut at all. I would not have minded at all if I tasted coconut with those recipes.

  2. Did all of the above! I started using coconut oil this year, in cooking and baking. Recently ran out actually, but would like to keep experimenting and make my switch over a permanent one. Got the only brand my local store had, but this sounds top-notch! Thanks for hosting

  7. I am a huge fan of coconut oil. As a Natural Chef, I use it often to cook with and recently added it to my beauty regimen. I just returned from the beach, not burnt and my friends can't stop raving about my bronzed skin. I didn't intentionally use it as sunscreen, just moisturizer but discovered that it does act as a sunscreen. Also purchased the book by Tropical Traditions a year ago and am currently reading it and becoming increasingly more excited at all the benefits of this great product. I am eager to try their brand!
