Rail Trail Chicks: Stacy

This week, my featured Rail Trail Chick is Stacy.  Stacy is my bestest friend, ever.  I really could go on and on about Stacy, but I'd take away from from her post today!  I will share this one picture of the two of us pregnant (just over three years ago) with our daughters.

Who/what inspires you to run?
I was always one of those people who gawked at runners on the side of the road wishing I could be one of them.  When Jen started running I was motivated even more.  It took me a while, but she finally convinced me that I could do it.  So, she was my real inspiration.  Now I am continually inspired to keep running by my children.  I love hearing them cheer for me at races and pretending to be runners themselves.

What is your best training tip?
Running with others has really helped me to keep training.  I have two fabulous groups of women I run with all week long.  It helps keep me honest.

What is your favorite post run indulgence?
A LONG shower and a great cup of coffee.

2012 Race Plans:
I am going to train for my first marathon...yikes!  I know I can do it with the right training though, and my fellow chicks will help me through.  


2010 Jingle Bell 5K

Favorite Distance to Run:
I haven't really found a distance that I truly love.  I still feel like a newbie in the running club because I am just wrapping up with year number two.  I'm still trying to find my race pace and not get so overwhelmed at the beginning of a race.

    Nice post... I love a hot shower after a run too or at least a long soak in a hot bath.

      This would be the same Stacy! She is indeed a sweetheart. She is the most selfless person I know & truly makes me want to be a better person. PS She is going to LOVE zipfizz!

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
