Meal Delivery Service: Diet-to-Go

For me, 2013 is about making changes to my eating habits and choosing healthier meals.  Diet-to-Go arrived at my door just in time to help me kick off my year with a strong start.

First impressions go a long way with me, and I was impressed from the start.  They arrived in a large cooler packed with ice packs and were still quite cold when I got home and found them.  I received 9 meals, 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 3 dinners.  All of them looked amazing and I couldn't wait to dig into them.  I was also impressed with the labeling on each of the packages and the breakdown of the ingredients and nutritional values.  I was quite pleased that the foods were real foods.

I lack variety and creativity when it comes to breakfast.  Most of the time it's eggs or granola and yogurt.  I want quick and convenient and mostly healthy.   Honestly, I've been getting quite tired of those choices.  To say I was excited for Diet-to-Go's breakfasts would be an understatement.  Not only were the choices.  Not only were the breakfasts delicious and tasty they were convenient to grab on my way out the door.

Mushroom Strata with Chicken Sausage, V8, and Yogurt; Fajita Omelet w/ Artichokes;
Raisin Bran Muffin w/ Strawberry Preserves, Yogurt and Orange Juice
I also struggle with creativity and variety for lunches.  I usually eat the same thing every single day at school because it's a lot less time consuming to prepare one large meal and divide it into five different containers.  Once in a while I get crazy and make two different meals and split that up.  With Diet-to-Go, I had taste, health, variety, and convenience.  An excellent solution for me.

Turkey Sandwich, Mayo, Tomato, Swiss Cheese, Apple;
Bistro Chicken Salad with Sesame Breadsticks;
Chicken Philly Sub with Honey Mustard Mayo, American Cheese, and Peach Pudding
 Dinner time is usually a struggle.  When I want to eat something, the kids don't necessarily want to eat what I want.  If I only made pizza, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, and grilled cheese, they would be incredibly happy kids.  But that's not exactly what I want to eat.  With Diet-to-Go, my meals were tasty and satisfying.  I never left the dinner table feeling that I needed or wanted more to eat.

After eating these meals, I never once thought or felt that I was eating a diet meal.  I never felt that I was cutting food out or depriving myself of nutrients.  I always felt like I ate a well prepared and tasty meal and fully satisfied.   And it definitely does not surprise me that Epicurious recently rated Diet-to-Go as the #1 diet delivery company.

  1. so cool that there is a plan out there with all natural ingredients! I always wrote those plans off as processed foods. I'm pleasantly surprised to see it is not the case! Looks awesome!

  2. Looks great, Jen! Like Lea, I always assumed these plans didn't have a lot of real food in them. How nice not to worry about what to eat all week!

  3. I have to say, I was hesitant at first, but after seeing some of the photos and reading the ingredients, it sounds like it could really work for someone trying to loose weight. I could stand to drop a few and having someone plan and make my meals? Yes, please!

  5. This sounds and looks like a gret meal plan, too bad they don't send enough for the whole family so you didn't have to cook at all ;)

  6. Great review! I was amazed at how tasty and plentiful the food was for the calories.

  7. Great post, Jen! I love that I would be able to eat almost all of the food from the meals that you got, I just don't like baked beans. That would just be my hesitation with a plan like this, if you couldn't mark food you don't eat (red meat, etc. for me).

  8. Jen, what a great review and I love all your pictures. Sounds like a good service and nice that they can cater to a few different dietary preferences, too.
