At 6:45 am, I got to school, got my laptop ready, pulled out my credit card and pulled up the website.  



I was ready to go.  And it was only 6:48.  12 more minutes!    I decided I would do a little planning/organizing on my desk.  And then I saw 6:58.   

Call Ward make sure he was up and ready to go.  Check.  
Now....  Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.  GO!  
Type as fast and accurately as I can.  
Wait for that confirmation screen and done.  
I'm in!


Then I sit back and watch Facebook light up with the "I'm in" status updates and some "I didn't make it" updates.  

Yes, this is what happens on the morning of Beach to Beacon registration.  This morning, 4000 people registered for this 10K in 4 minutes and 32 seconds.  




That's insane.  And this year, I'll be one of those crazy ass people.  Along with many of my friends, and Ward.  

Now, Monday morning we register for the LL Bean 10K.  That one isn't as stressful.  But it's still a fun race to do!  

Do you have a race that when registering for gets your heart pumping?

    Honestly, almost all registering makes my heart pound b/c I'm excited, but hate racing, nervous and questioning my sanity!

    I felt exactly the same way when I registered for Boston, except that year their website crashed, and I had to keep refreshing ALL MORNING! It was so stressful, and since then I haven't had any desire to do another big race. :)

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
