Running With The Girls Birthday Bash Virtual Race Recap

It would be an understatement to say I'm overwhelmed by the support I received from my family, friends, fellow bloggers, and readers in helping me to raise money to fight cancer.  Together we raised $435!

Way to go, Leslie!  She's coming back from an injury and got in her miles on the elliptical.  


My friend, Amy, who snowshoed 3.79 miles
 Amy snowshoed her 3.7 (she actually went 3.79) miles on a gorgeous winter day in Maine.



My Aunt Vic, who totally rocked this challenge on her elliptical!  She has always been like my second mom growing up, which makes this even more meaningful to me.   I'm so proud of her.  



My cousin, Christie, joined in on the action as well.  I'm so proud of her!  Growing up, she was always like a sister to me.  I love that girl! 



Carrie, one of my running girls and great friends, who blogs over at Maine Mom on the Run, got out on a rather chilly Maine winter day to get in her miles.  She so cute and match with her green jacket and green watch.  



My sister-in-law, Jill, and another one of my running girls, who completely got in a speedy 3.7 miles before school last Thursday on her favorite treadmill at the gym, at 4:30 am!  


My friend, Lori, who got in her miles on the treadmill!  


My blogging buddy, Christie at Christy Runs, who has had a brutal winter and got in her 37:37 minutes on the elliptical at 9:37.  I love all of the 37's!!!  




And of course myself.  I set out aiming for getting in 3.7 miles in 30 minutes (since I had a 30 minute treadmill challenge going on at the gym) but I managed to get in more speed than expected.

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
