Dear...

losers in the big red truck.   Do you really think it's cool that you gawk at me every time you see me when I'm out running and drive by me several times during a short run? Really? I do want to thank you for slowing down - because you gave me the chance to get an awesome description of you and your truck. And I was able to find where you live.  For that, I thank you.  You're not going to stop me from running.  Nope.  Not at all.  I'm just not going to be running on my road.  I don't trust you.  I think you are big time losers that's just looking for trouble and I don't want any part of it.  I hope you enjoyed your visit from the cops you freakin' morons.

  2. Ugh. There's a white Ranger that I was seeing ALL THE TIME for about a month, and multiple times a day. I finally ran towards town (and the police station) after seeing it 3x in 2 miles and the cops were able to figure out who it belonged to based on my description. The guy was an unregistered sex offender. I now know where he lives (on a road I've only run on once or twice) and he has officially been warned by the police that if I complain about him again (they found out he didn't know my name or anything about me, thank goodness), he will have a restraining order filed against him. He's already in serious trouble for living so close to an elementary school and not being registered. The police won't tell me anything specific, but I know he's been back in court recently and I haven't seen him in almost 2 months now.

    So just be careful.

  3. Oh Jess - I hate this. I'm sorry that you were in a similar situation.

I hate that I won't be running on my road. But we have plenty of other - well populated areas to run in my area...so I'm just going to run there. I've spoken to the police department and they've been warned. I sure hope they don't know my name or where I live, although they do live on my road - but they live on the other end which is actually in another town.

  4. Ugh, I hate creepers. I always carry pepper spray on me. I'm glad you were able to report them and have a safer area to run in.

  7. That is no bueño!!! Sometimes I wonder if I've watched too many episodes of Criminal Minds, but truth be told--people are crazy!! Be careful Jen -- be smart, and listen to your gut -- our intuitions are very powerful and should never be ignored. Hoping the authority steps up & shut's 'em down! <3

    1. Oh I am definitely listening to my gut! It doesn't seem okay with me at all. I admit - I am a very paranoid person but there is no need to drive by me as much as they did. Thank you so much!

  9. What a creep! Good for you for getting enough info to ID them and alerting the police:) I rarely have anyone bother me while I'm out for a run, but it's very unnerving when they do. Stay safe and keep on running!

  11. I have run/lived in many places with NO issues - undesirable neighborhoods in Lowell and South Boston. Not a single issue with vehicles or their drivers.

In the short time that I've been running in the Gardiner area I've been yelled at, had a carton of milk thrown at me - last winter alone I was driven off the road three time as a prank, and two weekends ago someone in a white van reached out of their car and tried to hit me on the pearl harbor bridge.

I realize your post is about a much more sinister type of activity. But there seems to be something about the culture of the area that lends itself to this kind of behavior.
