Getting Myself Psyched Up for Tomorrow's Race

Last year, the January Thaw took place the day after a blizzard. It was looking pretty gosh darn good that this year's race was going to be a lot different...but Mother Nature disagreed and dumped some snow and a lot of ice on Maine yesterday and today! Better yet - the temp at the start time tomorrow will be 17F with a windchill of 0F!~ Brrrrr!





I love, love, love it when Ward comes back to me and runs in with me.  



My best memories of this race last year was that Ward, Stacy and I all walked away as winners! Here we are - all of the overall and age group winners! Ward was 3rd overall and 2nd in his age group, I was 1st woman overall, and Stacy was 1st in age group! We rock.

Now I have to get my outfit ready for tomorrow!

    You MUST share your outfit for tomorrow -- I'm all kinds of interested in HOW one dresses for 17-degree weather with a wind chill of ZERO! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr is an understatement!!!!

    Have a great race! And like Jenn's Adventures - I would love to know how you dressed for the weather...to be warm, but stay comfortable during the run.

    I hope the race went well!  The weather also decided to be mean to my husband and I for our 5K race today and dumped some snow and 18 degree temps on us!  It wasn't too bad, but running in the snow is tiring.

Socks are very important to a runner.   If they rub you the wrong way, it will make for a very uncomfortable run.  Bunching up, toes too cold, too hot, rubbing - all things that can go wrong with a sock.  I'm sure there are some other scenarios I've left out. Running at night scares used to terrify me.  But, it all comes down to if I want to run I had to get over this fear.  Running in the darkness is my only option if I plan on running Monday through Friday since it’s dark before school and getting dark when I leave school and it’s going to be this way until mid February/March.  I supposed option B would be to rejoin the gym, but I really don’t want to spend the $$ and I don’t really enjoy the treadmill anymore.  So, outside it is! Tommie Rocks + Giveaway!

 A little over a month ago, Jordan from  Tommie Copper  sent me some Tommie Copper gear to sample.  I nearly peed my pants with excitement when the Tommie package came in the mail.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon AND I had new gear to try out, so I pushed dinner back and made the executive decision to go for a run immediately.  Have you heard about Tommie Copper ?  This company is known for it’s compression gear that is infused with Copper.  So, why does Tommie use copper in it’s compression gear?  From what I gather, copper has been used medicinally for 1000’s of years.  Apparently copper stimulates the immune system to fight infections, repairs injured tissues and promotes healing.  Do you think if I outfitted myself in TC gear and wore it to school everyday, I would fight off those gross elementary kid germs?  I’m tempted to try that out.  Seriously.   Why do people even wear compression gear?  Do they just like wearing tight clothing?
